Re: My Swansong speaker build
Just finished the first of the two breadboarded 1st pass prototype passive filters is now complete: http://www.audio-talk.co.uk/colin/1st Pass Filter.JPG Not too bothered at this stage about neatness, just need to get something working to hook up to the speakers externally for initial testing and I ...

Slotting together nicely Ray.
The CNC machining does make the build so much easier and quicker.

Re: Edingdale GT, the ultimate Edingdale? Probably
Just made up a couple the Zobel filters into some cases I have lying around for some time. These are for Alan who has a pair the Edingdale GT speakers and attended the recent Owston meet with his son Craig. Just need to hook them up to my speakers to check all is OK before I post them off. https://w...

Re: My Swansong speaker build
Thanks guys, for your kind comments. One does try ones best and these are after all my swansong speakers. Don't think I have it in me anymore to build and develop another pair speakers so wanted (and hoped) these to be something special and different from your run-of-the-mill typical single full ran...

Re: My Swansong speaker build
Due to few procurement issues and personal matters, it's been a while since I had anything to add to the progress of this build. Anyway, I have now fully finished the build and veneering of the cabinets and last week they were returned from the spray shop, having been given several professional spra...

Re: SLOB project
Glad to help out Ray, and many thanks for the thoughtful gift of the 6 bottles of Somersets finest cider. This really was not expected and much appreciated. Looking forward to following your progress of the build.

Re: Nothing In Particular
“Thank you. Since we decided a few weeks ago to adopt the leaf as legal tender, we have, of course, all become immensely rich.” “ But we have also,” continued the management consultant, “run into a small inflation problem on account of the high level of leaf availability, which means that, I gather...

Is it just me that thinks our esteemed me chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng sounds as if he is a character dreamt up by Douglas Adams and plucked straight out of his book "Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy"?

Re: what are you doing ?
Made myself a couple pedestal drinks tables for my listening room. They are made from the 25mm offcuts of chipboard from my Swansong speaker build, covered in Maple veneer to match the new speakers. The pedestals are steel tube table legs cut down to length to suit. http://www.audio-talk.co.uk/colin...

Re: Edingdale GT, the ultimate Edingdale? Probably
Upper impedance plot is the GT as-is. It's essentially a featherweight load compared to many. Aside from the usual twin vented box peaks, it doesn't vary by more than 3ohms over the audio range, and electrical phase angles are similarly benign. Lower impedance plot is the GT with the input Zobels a...

Re: Ah ! Njoe Tjoeb fault
Hang on a sec ... I'm not asking you to do anything for me except offer your advice re. how to get access to the laser section. Anyway I've already bought a laser module from Germany, you're in too deep ! Do you need me to sign a form promising not to launch any litigation, if it goes wrong ? :) Th...

Re: Ah ! Njoe Tjoeb fault
Mark, the relative straight forward part is the removing of the transport. it gets more difficult after that and greater care is need to remove the rubber suspension mounts. Break or damage one of those and you are buggered. If you are finding this part of the repair difficult to get your head aroun...

Re: Ah ! Njoe Tjoeb fault
Mark, I'm no expert just general observation of the fixings and connections and working it all out with a little trial and error before I figured it out. Manually pull the tray out so its in the open position to load a CD. The front half round strip (with the Compacr Disc lgo on) just prises off fro...
