I currently use and have for some time Jensen tin foil PIO's. Slightly better and much more than slightly expensive. The Russians are good and several are using them. They should be fine for Graeme. Went in the post 1st class today.

Hi Graeme,

Just checked my spares box. I have a pair of low use Green Russian military K75-24 paper in oil 2.2uF 10%. I used these in my Phono II for a short while. You are welcome to them. PM me your address and I'll post them in the morning.

Regards,

Greg

Hi Andrew, Good question. We have no pets and my kids are now adult. I'm the only one who dusts it! The cover is made from thicker perspex than most covers and is larger so it's heavy. I have fitted small cork feet at each corner so it is non slip. I've not had any accident since I've had it. Regard...

Hi Mike, Here is a couple of old pics of my Garrard. I use spikes now instead of those brass fittings and I now have a different arm. Anyway, shows the finish on the slate and the cover which can now be engraved with the Garrad badge as per the Origin Live example on the Red website. http://i49.phot...

Hi Andrew, I think a plinth would be a bad idea unless it was constructed simply as a curtain and dust protector. Whatever, don't let it become part of the coupling. I use the spikes as shown by Colin and use pillars under them onto the support platform. I doubt your Mahogany plinth which is also op...

As cost is clearly an issue here, you can't beat the Electro Harmonix 300B Gold grids as Nick recommends. Best sound for pound in the 300B market, but make sure it is the gold grid version and not their basic one which is cheaper. It sounds distinctly dull in comparison. There are a few better but t...

Hello Andrew, The traditional finish for slate is to use Linseed oil, but this does not provide a permanent sealed finish and the process is to apply with a rag and wipe off with a clean cloth a few minutes after application and to periodically reapply. Linseed oil does not dry off like other oils. ...

Supplement 19. Celestion SL-6000 as a dipole.

Graeme, this article was specifically about matching a subwoofer to ESL63 so contains general info as well as about the Celestions which now you would have to source second hand. If you PM me your email address I'll forward a copy of the article.

Was that anything like, long hair + scruffy jeans = ergo must be a drug pusher? To be fair, given the fact that there was a vehicle as well, and remembering the typical festival goer at that time, the odds would have been in favor of finding something recreational and illicit. There were fundamenta...
