Do I read 'higher resistance' as higher Z too Nick? The GZ34 is pref here?

But diyhifisupply was selling valve arts 274s for £8 each so I bought 4. Huge classic bottle shape and I am using one in my SEXamp, just for looks. thats what makes this place and it members 'special'....! Blimey, all these new (to me) rectifiers coming out the woodwork. I dunno where to star...

Ah, just found a data sheet for these 80 and 83 valves, they're a bit limited current wise aren't they compared to GZ34. 250mA max per 83 http://www.nj7p.org/Tube4.php?tube=83 even less for the 80. I'd have to check on the spec of that recently acquired Hammond mains TX to see what it could power re...

Thanks Will and Colin, I'll have a punt around. I've only once used a valve rectifier, using a Mercury rect will be another thingy to play with over winter. Is an 80 or 83 more desirable to run a pair of 2A3's and a pair of drivers? They don't seem to go for silly money, are folk scared of them? :) ...

Hmmm, both of mine failed prematurely. I'd be inclined to make sure you have enough resistance in series with it Dave. Oh, That doesn't sound too good Simon. I was going to experiment with different PSU configurations to see if my lug 'oles can detect any difference so the series resistance will va...

Thank you MrI.

JJ GZ34 was cheap, £10.50 I deemed it necessary for me to have it.

Yes, upwards too :)

6B4G's sex-change is starting soon. First I'm swapping out the DC heating and replacing it with AC heating and swapping the valve bases to accommodate the 2A3's. Am I right in thinking the 2.5V AC heater TX's are best mounted very close to the heater sockets? I'm sure I've read that somewhere. Got a...

Yeah Al, Andrew (Rogers Speaker buyer man) reckoned the transport was very good as was the filtering. He had a little box plugged into the port where the controller goes that was an IR receiver that accepted commands from a handset for FF/RW/Play/stop. I might have a play one day but I've got enough...
