Thanks for the offer, Colin.

At the time I envisaged something like what we'd used to get some sheet plastic cut by the laser cutter at school.

Hmmmm...

I'll have a think about construction, and come back when I know for sure...

Colin, when you say "cutting schedule" for the CNC machines, how do you do that? I've no CAD software of my own, though they had some at school that might be available for use one lunch time... Actually, it was rubbish software, nevermind. I keep thinking 12mm MDF would be Ok. I built my s...

I hate being 16 for this reason - I can't just hop into my car and pick up some stuff. Cycling isn't an option either...

Oh well.

PVA glue, then run around the edges with some sealant. Screws (I learnt from my floorstanders) aren't much use.

Yeah, I noticed the 15mm material. Makes the numbers a little worse, but never mind.

Anyway, I'm thinking 12mm MDF here, would that be strong enough (general question), or should I go for 18mm?

Yeah, just interesting that crossing the woofer over meant better bass (inductor across the Fostex). Anyway, if you made the inductor huge (more like 12 to 20mH), it'd drop the LF sensitivity of the bass bins a little (which would start rolling off pretty high, as they're open backed), but give you ...

Hmmm... Colin, I'll bear that in mind, thanks. Phil, I'm not sure how you managed to use half a sheet (I can get it to just over a quarter), but it sounds like BB ply would be a little too expensive. Some of the ply at B&Q is pretty nasty, but Dad's going to have a look at a timber merchant not ...

I was playing around on Boxsim (german software, models crossover circuits amongst other things, but it's free), and it looks like adding the inductor across the Fostex driver (this is referring to waaay back) crossed the bass unit over, and the capacitor crossed over the Fostex. Essentially, each o...

SMPS powers my tripath amp.

It wasn't happy driving the extra capacitors I put in, so I gave it an inductor to cut out the pulsed 100kHz that was comming through. Helped a lot.

Oh, and the tiny little valve amplifiers use a SMPS (the miniwatt ones). Seems to work Ok.

Did anyone else bother with the Big 4 concert last night?
I went to the local cinema to see it. Sounded pretty good once they got the subs sorted.
