Sorry, bit late now, but you can get some reasonably cheap ones that also measure chokes and caps. Useful for reverse engineering speaker cross-overs, or matching pairs of components etc.

That is a good price. They look like they will accept screw in weights? I'm assuming that's a threaded hole in the top?

Maybe there is an argument for still creating a virtual centre tap and grounding that. Possibly overkill but would be the quietest solution I think.

I think the reason not to put it in the negative leg is because the heater is then not directly coupled to ground. So any fluctuation in heater current then moves the whole heater potential up and down - i.e. introduces common mode noise which is what we want to avoid.

You could put it in series with the choke, ie as part of the PI filter, between the caps?

Yes, the AT-LH1?/OCC ones.
That's not a bad price actually, but you'd have to add on shipping, import duty, VAT...

They are about £35 in Japan. I'm going to get some the next time my brother comes over (he lives there). Probably early next year if you can wait.
Gerry, that would be great. I would take a 13g, 15g and 18g if possible.
Thanks

If you go to the Bluebell site and look at the filament tx page, you will see a photo and some line drawings of the transformers. You will see (its clearer in the drawings) that the bobbin is divided into two sections. Hammond wind the primary in one section and the secondaries in the other. And the...

I wonder if that's why the WAD PSE300B can have a hum problem? I have maintained that this was the reason from the minute I started trying to cure the hum on mine. I should have just paid out the £30 or so to get some seperate fil trafos to try out the theory. There were two 5v high current winding...

Looks very good Steve, I'm glad it worked out OK. Its spec'd for 200mA so shouldn't even be getting stretched at that. I see my wiring survived so its good to get the Steve seal of approval :) The thinking behind not having a 6.3v winding on the TX is simple, and goes like this.....I was at Nick's,...
