When you say can't get 14V, do you mean can't get it up to 14V? Yes ! The highest I can get is about 13.2 with the resistor (1.5K) and 10 turn pot (1K).The choke DCR is about 950R. I'm running at almost exactly the HT shown on the circuit. http://www.mif.pg.gda.pl/homepages/frank/sheets/049/8/826.pdf

So how would I do that ?

Measure the current going through the OPT ?

Everything works ! I can't quite get to 14V bias, at the moment I'm on 13.2V and it sounds "big" and "nice". I think the bias needs a slightly smaller resistor (from 1.5K to 1K perhaps) and a bigger value pot (from 1K to perhaps 2-5K). Will have a listening session now. :wi...

I finished the anode CCS for the 6SN7 and then checked, and double checked all the wiring. Seems OK. A small refinement was to add two test sockets to make checking the positive bias on the 826 grid easier. Now, next is the filament power supplies. Simple really (he says  )and done in a trice....

IE memory usage.

When I checked task manager just now it seems I have four lots of "iexplore.exe" running with memory usages of

72,184K
75,004K
8,280K
55,508K

Now can I assume that there should only be one file with that name ?

If so, how do I (or even, should I  ) rectify the situation ?

As I'm using separate cathode resistors for the 6SN7 (cos they are monoblocks) does the cathode resistor bypass cap still need to be 470uf ?

I ask cos I have no 470uf but have 220uf which were used with 6SN7 on the 829b amp.

Eventually I found another MSI motherboard number and downloaded the Realtek data for that.

Seems to work OK now.

Just been listening to Oliver Cromwell coming from a fair distance and chuffing past. 4 mins of magic.

Yes Nick, the sound card is built in. I must check my old computer and see if that has a separate sound card.

Computer sound.

I have had problems with my computer sound for ages. I'm on Windows XP and the sound was Realtek AC97. It went again the other day and I have removed the software and cleaned the registry of every last remnant of the programme. Now all I need is a replacement ! I don't want anything fancy, just so I...

My NOS English Electric ex WD ceramic sockets came today. Fortunately the fixing holes are the same as the septar sockets that were used in 829b days. Nic has managed to find a working pair of 826 for me from his warehouse (read loft  ) so we have all the ingredients for the mix now (or will h...
