Thanks, Dave.
I have had a few friends over to listen between my speakers and some generic speakers. Even they could tell the difference was huge.

Had an idea for my pic - my first (ever!) stereo. Even now, it sounds pretty good.

Possibly.

Though at the same time, the actual wattage behind treble is incredibly low.

There's a complicated reason why that I'm not going to start on at this moment in time, as I'm about to go out on my bike.

Good articles. I learnt a lot of what I know from those. It's interesting you should say that. I remember at Colin's, listening to his speakers, switching between his and my amplifier, there seemed to be more treble with his. Not by a huge amount, but it was noticable. It gave a more forward sound, ...

Listening to a pair of 4" full-rangers, next to my PC monitor. They're little Wharfedales, with an impossibly small cabinet. http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/161 Mine are much older, paper cone (the one there appears to be poly). There's bloated midbass (down to t...

Following this, if I model my Eminence woofer... It can be seen that the efficiency at 1w input is very low at 20Hz (1st picture), and the bass response isn't too good. However, if I put a 2nd order cross-over on it (2nd picture), the frequency response flattens out from 20Hz. Note the (still) low e...

They didn't come out too well. They look better when downloaded. Anyway, here's picture number 3 Here, it's shown that I can pick a slope to match the roll-off of my subwoofer, creating output as low as I want. Warning here (seems necessary). Vented (ported, etc, call them what you will) should not ...

That's the bit I'm asking about. How does that work?

How about "Inhouse Teenager"?

I'd be happy to go along with any of the suggestions.

I think I might try that idea tomorrow. I'm on "study" leave from school, so I only have to go in for my exams. I'll have lots of time tomorrow to play about with the 12" woofer. The cabinet is sealed, and I have a 100w+ amp to play with. Need to get myself a youtube account - I've do...
