When I rewired 12 years ago based on the little info I could find I put in four spurs just for the hifi. I put these at the front of the consumer unit, which is supposed to be the best place as it's closest to where the leccy comes in from the street. Not sure this really makes a difference but it's...

No, no Linux box. Maybe one day when I have more time and money . The QNAP has a number of features such as web server, and if I really knew what I was doing I might set something up. But I don't so I keep all the ports closed behind the firewall. Ignorance isn't cool, but better safe than sorr...

QNAP resurrected!!!! Chris and Dave were spot on the money :D. I swapped to the Maplins PS and the QNAP was fine. So whilst the knackered one read 12V with my DMM it obviously can't provide enough current. Just need to find a replacement from somewhere now. Result! Thanks for everyone's help - with ...

This seems to back up the dead PSU theory http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?t=20055 That's an interesting link Chris, I'll have a look further. Looks like QNAP technical help might be worth trying too, though when I was struggling to upgrade to SqueezeCenter they were at the same time very helpfu...
