Hi Rod, good to see you here. Would the board in the photo be the proto for my KRs? :)

No, no Linux box. Maybe one day when I have more time and money . The QNAP has a number of features such as web server, and if I really knew what I was doing I might set something up. But I don't so I keep all the ports closed behind the firewall. Ignorance isn't cool, but better safe than sorr...

So there's no substitute for the discipline of regular manual backups?

QNAP resurrected!!!! Chris and Dave were spot on the money :D. I swapped to the Maplins PS and the QNAP was fine. So whilst the knackered one read 12V with my DMM it obviously can't provide enough current. Just need to find a replacement from somewhere now. Result! Thanks for everyone's help - with ...

This seems to back up the dead PSU theory http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?t=20055 That's an interesting link Chris, I'll have a look further. Looks like QNAP technical help might be worth trying too, though when I was struggling to upgrade to SqueezeCenter they were at the same time very helpfu...

Ali Tait wrote:Very obvious and you've probably checked, but is there an internal fuse?
I did look but couldn't see anything obvious. Have to admit I was hoping it was a nice, easy to replace fuse that had blown. I think I'm going to have to strip it down to find out so might find out a bit more then.

I don't know what a QNAP is but if it runs on a PSU is it possibly 1 or more of the supply rails have dropped due to the power being shut off by the RCD? At work we've had various SMPS's pop out after mains power failures, some seem quite sensitive to it. Sorry to hear of yer woe's Simon. DTB Thank...
