Gentlemen (and any ladies present)... I need your help
Well, sort of. If, at some point, over the next few months, you happen to take a womble through ebay, and notice an auction for 5 pairs of drivers: 4 Fostex, and 1 Lyeco, would you please let me know about it? They are mine -a personal shipment from DaveP10 which vanished, and then astonishingly eno...

My favourite deck: a cheap Sony DD from the late 1970s that my parents had when I was a youngker. Sound quality was not exactly great -I...

That's exactly why I remarked in my last post that it's 'almost impossible to completely erradicate all resonance; all you can hope to do is control them as best as possible.' It also is very much in line with what I was saying generally. I didn't want to get too involved, as I usually send most peo...

All materials have their own natural resonant frequency or frequencies. In practical terms, its almost impossible to completely erradicate all resonance; all you can hope to do is control them as best as possible. I can't speak for turntables per se, as you guys have way more experience with them th...

I hate to disagree, but if people are finding that different support materials more or less subtly alter the sound, then to my mind that would imply that slate is not especially dead, but is in fact resonating. If it were acoustically / mechnaically 'dead', then there would be little resonance, and ...

The Slatedeck supplier going it alone with the Slatedeck design was a much bigger concern.... Now that's beyond the pale. Competition from other manufacturers like OMA is one thing (and they're more custom builds than otherwise), having a supplier shaft you by (if I understand you correctly), pinch...
