Best bet IMHO is if you want it to shunt more current than the stabilizer can manage, maybe an amplified Zener kind of principle. Like get the VR tube or whatever to control the grid of a parallel power valve.

Ok so I see from sirquit that R3 & 4 is the electrostatic wotsit. And there seems to be a centre-tap to earth as well. How does that work?

It might be alright now it's had a "rest", like I say if you leave it off frequently it has more of a chance to get back to shape.

Worth a try I reckon

No I've been indignant about it for years. Only needs another revolution in China or an economic collapse or a big natural disaster or a war over there and bang goes all our new products. You'd have second-hand stuff, simple DVD players and the like, changing hands for hundreds of pounds cos you jus...

Oh yes. Should be solid enough in theory. Maybe it's too solid? Have you tried loosening the screws a bit or the the nut even? Re the motor and belt I think the belt shouldn't be too tight. Some replacement ones can be very tight. I've got a couple and they won't climb up the clutch on their own for...

I discovered by messing about with the values you can control the Voltage you want from choke input. I mean it's supposed to 0.9 x the AC but you can tweak it higher if you want.

Something else you might try, I was wondering this until I ended up changing the counter weight ~ but could try small O-rings either side of the counterweight to stop it 'wobbling about'. Or vibrating, that is, cos it is quite loosely attached to the stub TBH. Also maybe big O-rings round the platte...

Arm board is the aluminum one off EBay chap Ah now then that is sort of a hollow space isn't it? I mean just a plate standing on three pillars. Whereas Ant made mine out of oak so it's both solid but at the same time not a hard material. Bet that plate must have a resonant frequency at some point o...

an other drives the power steering and alternator IIRC. Water pump as well? That would be more a like a fan belt type of thing wouldn't it? Long time ago had an early '80's BMW, that had a timing belt. The word for those was change every 20K, supposed to go for 26K-ish but you didn't dare if you we...

Try measuring the bottom of R3 to 0V. You might have a broken track.

Or, Ohmmeter 0V to R3 pad.
