Seems to be a getting worse. This year I had to replace the carb on my Honda-engined lawnmower and get the carb of my Honda outboard stripped and ultrasonically cleaned. Both were gormed up with old petrol, and with both I was advised not to leave them for more then two months without draining the c...

I do remember a bloke with an LI175 who arrived about 15 minutes late at school one day.

Apparently it had seized on the way.

Three times....

I remember a old chap at the sunbeam owners club events who solved the lack of oil problem by adding a set of pipes that pumped the oil via the handlebars and so cooled the oil and warmed the fingers at the same time. The thing I love about bikes is the innovative engineering, both at an individual...

So KT44 is functionally the same as KT66 and 6550? Interesting, I've got some somewhere.

Apart from the heater voltage and the physical layout of the base/anode cap, would all else be the same as for 6550?

Reminds me of a particlarly stuffy and holier-than-thou parent at my daghter's primary school who insisted on bringing his son to school in a childseat on the back of his pushbike, much to the son's mortification. My daughter and I were walking up one of the many steep hills in our village when this...

OK, not hifi. I once had a kit car based round a Morris 1300, on which I lovingly rebuilt the engine, involving a rebore, new pistons, crank grind, new shells and new oil pump. All installed in the car, start up, zero oil pressure. B******s. Scratch head for some time and realise that the new oil pu...

First ever build of a valve amp (6550 PP), proudly connected up for all the family to listen to and marvel at the warmth clarity and deatil about to issue forth. Pity I forgot to remove the shorting link across the PSU that I'd put on to take some measurements before bringing it in from the shed. BA...

I'm not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but if ever I did embrace the faith it would probably be as a Quaker.

There's nothing to be gained from converting MP3s to FLAC. The information lost when converting from WAV to MP3 is gone forever. The only thing to do would be to rip the CDs again directly to FLAC.

I used to enjoy singing hymns at school assembly. Six hundred lusty lads can make a lot of noise when they put their minds to it! Only marred by the Sixth form who regarded it as a point of honour to be two lines ahead of everyone else by the end of the first verse. The whole process was accompanied...
