Well I tried the ni-cad batt for 1st stage cathode on mine, seems to be beneficial certainly. Bear in mind fixes it at 1.3V though. Rapid do 1/3rd size ni-cad cells, "industrial" type, with solder tags. So you can plonk a wire on each end and make what almost looks like an axial capacitor ...

Thing is, if it were a blind testing session I could be hard pressed to say which was which. Does that mean the PT15 is crap,or the mos-fet is very good ?
