FWIW, as has been posted elsewhere, the real world differences between prior and most recent production versions of FE126 are not to the latter's detriment. Any enclosure design even close to "optimal" for the former will work quite well with either - although they should of course be used...

Very interesting I had thought I'd like to see you have a go at an "ornary" paper cone speaker Well now Mike, my latest build using Fostex FE167eN are paper cone drivers, but again may not be considered 'ornary'. What is :?: The CHP-70's will (most likely) be destined for a pair of these:...

out of curiosity, how near is your listening position - or does it vary?

I've always preferred this driver at a much further distance than for the FE127 (i.e. at least 3 meters for the 126, and as close as 1 meter for the 127)

Only horns in the sense that the (far too small) pipe gets bigger as it goes along. At a guess a poorly designed 1/4 wave resonator. Novel for sure. Execution is elegant in some senses. dave er, perhaps "efficient" in that it wastes somewhat less material than other stacked lamination des...

of course some purveyors of this driver would dispute the need for any "correction treatment", but the polka dots and tri-foil pattern can certainly transform this driver to another realm - of course in any guise, it will do little to mitigate deficiencies elsewhere in the system - she's c...

Andrew, I've heard the most recent 2 incarnations of FE126E in at least half a dozen enclosures, including the pictured "hybrid BR/TL/BLH" (or whatever y'all wanna call it). Out of the 4 or 5 that I've found far more satisfying , several happen to have Scott's DNA all over them, including ...

well Chrisby's post with the troublesome for some photo link was intended to point to the Alpair 10 version of "xxx-Ken" enclosure, (i.e the raw plywood boxes on the floor) but he finds it hard not to agree with the consensus as to the sonic merits of Maeshowe of course he's one of the few...

Hi Richard, It seems to me that unless you have an issue around wattage, a pair of Fonkens would suit your need exactly. I don't have any but I've listened to DTB's set and provided they are not over driven, they sound remarkable. DTB might like to add to this. I don't think, considering what you'v...

today's hip reference might be "Dyson" as in "with the proper amount of suction" (nice when you can get it - and thanks to Kundalini yoga, you just might be able to DIY that as well  )

XO components

If you're really adventurous, a circuit redesign of the XO might be worth considering, but based on my experience with the old AMT1s, it definitely wouldn't hurt to replace the aged cheap EL caps with modern films.

Yerrrrssssss I understand some of what you are saying. Pop in for a cup of tea and a chat? :D I've got three to choose from of the original old woofers. that hole somewhere in between where the Heil kicks in and the woofer lets go .... I recognise that! If the crossover point is down at 800Hz, mine...
