Re: C3g Aikido Phono

A bit of an update for record purposes having remodelled the parallel fets. With the single fet model I tried bypassing the source resistor with 470uF and this added 5dB of gain, nearly 33dB of gain now. But the noise increased significantly from ~53nV/Hz1/2 to ~84nV/Hz1/2. With two paralleled fets,...

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Me four.

I've not seen Vitiux before but thought it looks interesting and I'd have a play with it. Unfortunately the virus checker picked up a threat with the download but didn't give a clue as to what. Probably some kind of embedded minor spyware, but I binned it anyway.

Re: C3g Aikido Phono

Just measured them. Oh the evenings of fun you must have had measuring big bags of these things :-)

Re: C3g Aikido Phono

And a padded envelope has just dropped through my letterbox, thanks muchly :-D. I'll rerun the sims for the change in D and S resistors and see whether the noise drop continues per each additional fet. I was thinking of using a pair, possibly 4, but is 8 per channel recommended? Or do I need to matc...

Re: C3g Aikido Phono

Okay, you're suggesting the opposite to what I was thinking. But what I can't understand is with separate drain resistors, the outputs from each drain are in effect bypassing one of the drain resistors. Which is why I thought I might need a common drain resistor. What am I missing? (I sorted out the...

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Is that really a 300L cab? :-D Impressively big. And that must be a small fortune of birch ply.

Re: C3g Aikido Phono

Whilst thinking about drafting a pcb for this it occurred to me that the drain resistor I'd drawn for the second LSK170 is bypassed by the paralleled output from the second LSK170. The more I think about this the more I'm confusing myself. I found a Linear Systems application note which touches on p...

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

One builder did substitute the expensive BMS driver for a much cheaper Faital unit - and that is something I have done (I've already got the drivers). Which Faital drivers out of interest? Those BMS look impressive with a reckoned 28.5Hz from a vented 153L cab. That doesn't say how they would sound...

Re: Pass Sony VFET Project

Something else to learn Ray! I couldn't see any prices on the website, unlike pcbs, looks like you have to upload a file. What sort of money are they wanting? Could be very handy...

Very interesting Ray. Do you send them a 3d dwg or dxf? I'll have to have a look on their website fir pricing.

Re: C3g Aikido Phono

2 x 9V in series is easy enough. Even without a switch they'd last a long time I guess.

Re: On My Bench.

Dunno Dave, but the only place I've used tants is in 3 leg regs and I think the data sheet recommends much higher values of electrolytic than tantalum?

Not much help.
