Re: Cartridge advice

Its a moot point with this arm, it doesnt have an sme bayonet fitting anyway. Linear arms are oddities in terms of mass, they have low vertical mass but relatively high lateral mass in relation to the vertical. the lateral travel has to move the wand, counterweight and carriage, the vertical travel ...

Re: Cartridge advice

Not big on ortofons, the 2 ive liked were the sl15 (spu in a normal body) and the original red mc10 which was based on the sl20 which was in turn based on the sl15. The rest i tried (rondo red, mc 25fl and mc 30) i found flat, dead and not to my taste. Which is why i havent shortlisted any ortofons,...

Re: Cartridge advice

I already have a dv20x2h on the deck, and have had an at-f7 previously, the fall back plan is to buy a new dv20 if nothing else piques the interest. The f7 is a good cartridge, the at33sa is what im considering from the at range as they dont do a high output mc. As a secondary consideration, Ideally...

Re: Cartridge advice

I just dont trust reviews and internet opinions, they are like arseholes, everyones got one, and theres bound to be some shit in there. would much rather consider the opinion of someone on here who ive known a long time, and m...

Re: what are you doing ?

Well to be honest greg its a right pain in the arse to set up. I knew that going in with my experience of the terminator arm. Once its right its very right indeed, but getting it there can be very frustrating. Same as all linear trackers ive used (this, vics arm and a pioneer pl l800) It will always...

Re: what are you doing ?

I have a dr feickert, i did have a clearaudio which i thought was crap. Couldnt get on with any of the 4 alignments on it which seemed to completely ignore any record which has an inner groove radius that was anywhere near din standard 60.325mm. The closest alignment had an inner null point set at 6...

Re: what are you doing ?

Been fighting with the linear arm for the past 2 days trying to get the set up back to where it was after swapping the carts about. Ive ended up with a shure m55e on the jvc, and the dv back on the linear arm. It was driving me up the wall with the denon in it. The set up window where its performanc...

Re: what are you doing ?

Just recieved a mofi studiomaster phono stage so having a play with it. I bought it to replace the graham slee phono so that i could use some of my other carts in place of the broken eroica mc. Got it on a good deal from superfi at 239 quid. Cheaper than replacing the eroica like for like, so it see...
