Being simplistic I'd just wire in two independent on/off switches, for dip and mains....

Re: The Audio-Talk Motorcycling thread.
Dave's bike on the other hand behaved impeccably, and a credit to his rebuilding skills.

Re: The Audio-Talk Motorcycling thread.
I fitted a supa dupa all singing neoprene seal to my M18 chaincase over winter, replacing the rubber band.....it's slightly less drippy than it was...previous owner had got busy with the old silicone sealant which may have worked for about 5 minutes.... Melting tallow sounds fun, I might try that ne...

And a very enjoyable day t'was too.... acutually Dave mine's a rufty tufty hairy chested AJS M18 500cc.... Quite disconcerting at Headcorn was parachutists landing and aeroplanes taking off and landing seemingly amidst them.... Anyhow, back to the bikes, interesting how mine was a long stroked lazy ...

Re: Inverted OTL with 6SN7/6AS7
I might have to have a go at one of these inverted OTLs. 5687 version looks interesting but they're getting rarer and pricier. What would the panel say about subbing Russian 6N6Ps - claimed to be equivalent based on a quick bit of research (apart from the different pin layout) and much easier to fi...

It hasn't blown up...yet.....! Actually it's a mere 550v relative to the cathode isn't it?!

Re: GK-71 - economical build.
And here's mine for posterity..... No prizes for originality.....I started off with two 6n6ps which sounded very nice, but changed V1 to a 6n1p for a touch more gain, and played with the biasing until I thought it was about right. Ideally I think I could have upped the 320v and rebias and run a bit ...

Re: GK-71 - economical build.
Most big pentodes have that sort of limitation. For example EL34, Va=800, Vg2=500. Not sure there is a official answer other than it seems to work ignoring the value if triode connected and a limiting screen resistor is used. My GK71 amp (6n1p /dc/ 6n6p /Tx/ GK71 in triode mode) runs with a Va of a...

Re: Owston 2019 - Listening Impressions
I did flap around searching for the lost bass on my OB's on Saturday night, I must admit, although on Sunday Chris did his DSP magic on them which I think worked better in that room....now they are back home they sound err quite different, so much so that I removed the padding off the Lowthers last ...

Re: Attendees Owston 1/2 June 19
Yep I thoroughly enjoyed it, all the systems I thought were excellent, lovely to hear the ESL 57s and 211 amp, and a special thanks to Chris today who tuned and tamed my Lowthers.....
Looking forward to next year!
