I've used a pair of Sennheiser PX200 headphones for 6.5 years now with an I-Pod. They fold away into a carrying case and sound good to me. They also block out all noise very well to people near you so are ideal for public transport, imo. I have the Mk 1 version which doesn't have the volume control ...

Music by association

This morning I had a wander round part of Greenwich market and picked me's up a few vinyl goodies. Amongst them was the Clockwork Orange soundtrack, in good nick for three quid guvnor. Second track in is Rossinni's The Thieving Magpie which I really enjoyed listening to and liked the way it brought ...

Adidas Kebabs

One of our local bands. Nowt special but they're always playing one watering hole or another round here. And now they've gone and made a video which, actually, is not typical of them at all.

And I know all these peeps - woohoo! :D

I've come back to this, have been thinking about a Squeezebox again. Since last posting here I now have a DAC (home made from this module Here ) between media computer optical digital out and Hi Fi audio amplifier. I am really rather impressed with the sound quality, FLAC files sound very good indee...

Solid state devices in valve amp? Have just had a look at the cct diag to my Elektor pp amp and all it has is four diodes in HT line. Heater supply is AC. That's the only valve amp I have apart from a headphone amp I recently bought from Hong Kong This one which I don't have a circuit diagram for an...

PS - I'm curious - the only fault I can see to put 90v on the output (for an amplifier of ~100w) is for both output transistors to blow, so the load goes from +'ve to -'ve rail. Was this the case? As I recall, I think it was, though as it was around '85 or '86 my recollection is a little hazy. I di...

A tale of two Lencos

In May 2010 DTB gave me a Lenco Goldring GL75 turntable mounted in his heavy home made plinth and a couple of Decca Unipivot arms. One of the Decca arms had previously snapped in two where the arm meets the swivel assembly and repaired with extra hard araldite so I used the arm that hadn't been repa...

How many computer users does it take to change a light bulb? The machine linked to in the very first post will be fine for the use it's intended for. Good price too. End of story, really. E-Buyer are a good supplier with fair prices, and I say that from a fair bit of experience using online supplier...

Do dummy loads get warm? One I was using did once, allow me to relate. Carlsbro PA amp, 100 watt-ish, connected to 8R WW dummy load enclosed in small metal case/box. Me, green behind the gills, thought not to measure any offset DC on output. Such was the fault there was actually 90V DC present acros...

Yes, that's one thing I like about Facebook, I have 100's of photos up there that folk I know from whiles back can simply download, easier than posting disks full of photos or sending prints, an easy way to share. Having said that, seems to be a one-way street so far, didn't anybody else ever take a...

I'm on Face Ache, er, Facebook.

Today I saw some pictures that friend Sukie had posted there of her three year old son, he's looking well and it cheered me.

Facebook is what you choose to make of it.

He was unique, made me laugh in days gone by, did you know he appeared as a caretaker in Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire. We should all watch 'The Plank' again in his honour.

RIP Eric.
