Re: Nothing In Particular
I'm thinking if it's this easy then why haven't zyxel issued a patch, so... Absolutely! If Zyxel aren't patching it not sure I want to try! They haven't issued a "patch" (read as "SAMBA update") as they can't be bothered because it's an out of date product - it's officially &quo...

Re: Nothing In Particular
I would make sure your firewall is set to block any and all SMB packets. Though to be a firewall, it should be blocking everything its not told to pass. It's not stuff coming through the firewall that's the problem. As the NAS can only talk SMBv1, all windows boxes mapping drives have to use SMBv1 ...

Is that where you are now? Far too 'ot for me. It's 2:54 AM and I'm having some breakfast before departing to Gatwick. Should take orf at 9:30 this morning. Have a great great time ! You'll undoubtedly return the object of envy for all as a bronzed hunk with a ripped beach body.... ...or maybe not....

Re: Nothing In Particular
Time for a new NAS, methinks.
Tbh, you could use the method I outlined before about upgrading samba over ssh using shell commands.

I was going to post this in the "Jokes" section, but it's not a joke: Dubai National Cucumber Day http://gulfnews.com/guides/going-out/restaurants/pay-with-a-cucumber-at-these-35-dubai-venues-on-may-17-1.2024849 I suspect it's something from our Minister of Happiness (yes, we really have o...

Re: Nothing In Particular
You still need all the latest Windows patches, including the May set, to cover the NSA set of vulnerabilities.
You should also be running W10, not anything daft like 7 or XP.

Re: Nothing In Particular
I have contacted zyxel support with the question of how to force SMBv2 file share protocol. I await their response. I'm intrigued by this as there must be zillions of zyxel users out there in the same situation, yet there is no info about it on the net........believe me I've looked. It'll be embedd...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Very interesting! I thought I'd try Jack's recommendation. Running Windows 10 and knowing nothing about how it all works I followed the instructions. After reboot I've lost the Squeezebox on the Network; it's still there under 'This PC' but gone from Network. Should I be worried!? No - not worried ...

Re: Nothing In Particular
I'm still sniggering but I've got a feeling this may end in tears You didn't say what was running on the laptop, however, there is a way to find out why it needed SMBv1. Re-enable SMBv1. Start the PowerShell ISE in Administrator mode. Execute get-smbconnection You will get a list like PS C:\WINDOWS...

Re: Nothing In Particular
I've switched on SMBv2/3 via command line(elevated) and reloaded this machine The network is still not visible on this machine any suggestions? It's really difficult to remotely diagnose this sort of stuff. I'd turn SMBv1 back on for the laptop until you can make a more controlled transition to V2/...
