Re: N43 pentode amp design

Hey James, great to see you again, will reply when I get a bit of time. I ordered some mains toroid with LV secondaries from Toroidy for, blimey, what was it? Think it might have been a Salas simplistic folded phono and his pre amp too. I think they do a few different levels, mine had the epoxy cent...

Re: Printer advice.

I gave up on inkjets a long time ago. I only print occasionally and struggled with them drying up etc. The last straw was an Epson that refused to work after the first cartridge change. So I bought a colour laser printer and pay handsomely for it always printing when I want it to. At least the toner...

Re: what are you doing ?

We don't have any quiet corners really so everywhere has to be reasonably presentable - the composting is in the front garden.

5 skips is a great effort! Are you digging your way home?

Re: what are you doing ?

Photo for Stephen of the compost. Closest is the current stuff from the last two or three months, then the stuff from winter and last autumn, then the summer and spring I'd guess, and finally the year before probably. The stuff at the end is lovely, could eat it on toast. The stuff next to it is ver...

Re: what are you doing ?

I reckon it does speed it up a lot. It mixes the material together which helps a better compost, and it aerates it which helps too. You can buy tumblers - large bins that you fill up then spin each day or similar I think, which makes compost in a few weeks apparently. I'm too tight to buy a few of t...

Re: what are you doing ?

Did a proper job for lockdown yesterday, I turned the compost bins. I can't believe even the most ardent gardener looks forward to this job. Lots of lovely black gold awaits me though :-).

That's an interesting link Ray thanks, need to have a good read of that later.

I have a vague recollection of Nick mentioning it at Owston but I don't think I heard it. The perils of words written on t'Internet...

Re: Ali Bastanis OB testing & results

Thanks John. I've just had a look at the DEQX units, they look the business but a bit out of my price range. It sounds like you're doing similar to what I'm contemplating. My wide band drivers are run without any crossover by a GM70 SET, the bass drivers from cheap ebay class D amps which work surpr...

Bluddy hell, just spilt a bottle of beer over my Macbook Pro.

Thank gawd it had a keyboard cover on it, stopped the beer getting into the gizzards.

Been a while since I moved that fast. :D
You spilt beer, and you're concerned about something else? :-D

Re: Ali Bastanis OB testing & results

Thanks for the updates both, very interesting. Which Faital units are you using. I've only heard one Faital as far as I know, a 6", and was pretty impressed on vocals particularly. The Behringer amps used for the bass units have some kind of DSP built in I think? Do you use any DSP for the Faitals? ...
