Re: A new acoustic guitar!

£32.5k... Nothing wrong with art. I understand some people like Rothko even. That's the way I view the guitars shown. Art. Functional art, but art nonetheless. They're pieces that are quite possibly never going to get played, which is a shame, because they'll not mature as instruments unless they'r...

Re: A new acoustic guitar!

I've been having fun trying to get the following Youtube videos to show.

The CNC aspect of Martin's production is limited (I didn't say it was extensive in the first place).

Re: A new acoustic guitar!

Apart from building the instrument, which is largely done by hand (they use CNC wherever possible), they use the finest tonewood they can lay their hands on. The have stocks of timber going back decades, which is all stored in a humidity controlled, temperature stable environment, which costs a lot ...

What's wit the humbuggery?
I can think of other things to do with the thick end of £11000, such as get a less fancy D-42 and waste the rest on wine, women and song. Or at least wine and song

Re: A new acoustic guitar!

I saw this post a few months ago and I wondered what a man of your considerable intellect, advancing years and ahem instincts is doing a-strummin' away on an acoustic wimp-box. Then it occurred to me. Art though perchance in love, my boy? BTW I've got 27 TL072CP ICs that someone gave me a few years...

Re: Bert Weedon's Play In A Day

OP says it kept his playing in the doldrums for 40 years.
I would have thought that in 40 years of practise they'd have learned a few tricks and cheats along the way, and that the book is nothing but a guide, not a rule book.

Re: Bert Weedon's Play In A Day

It seems to me that we could make too much about where a thumb goes. If it suits great, if it gets in the way then cut it off. Quite where the digits of my left hand go, as I murder The Wind Cries Mary on a Strat, a tango on acoustic or simple doodling bluesywoos on a classical guitar my thumb find...

Re: Bert Weedon's Play In A Day

I do think it's a touch churlish to blame one's guitar playing deficiencies on Bert Weedon & his books.
I'm entirely to blame for my own lack of playing skills, and if the OP was honest they'd accept the mantle of responsibility for one's own actions and inactions too.
