RCA Phono Plug Recommendations
Anyone have any recommendations for sensibly priced decent quality but not audiophool priced phono plugs? I bought some of these: https://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/ps11547/phono-plug-metal-red-10-pk/dp/CN22493?CMP=TREML007-003 But whilst they're very cheap they're also really quite nasty. They fall...

Yeah, still not going to happen . We did reach a compromise though - we have no visible speakers in the lounge.

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)
"I'm not having that in my living room." That sounds familiar... I have the use of a smallish bedroom at least, but it doubles as my office/storage room. And it's perhaps a bit small for larger speakers. But the biggest challenge is getting the weight of big heavy speakers up the stairs.

Re: Mofo
Thanks Misty. It's a bit too smart to fit in in my play room, but I aspire to bring the rest of it up to a similar standard! I got the CPU cooler idea from Steve S. They're 12V powered from a small 12V SMPS with buck converters to wind the voltage down to reduce fan noise. They're running about 6V b...

Re: 45 SET
I guess to some extent even measuring off the published curves is a bit of a lottery as it depends on how close our actual valves conform to the averaged graphs?

Thanks Steve, I've been trying to make more of an effort to box stuff up the last year or so...
If you do want to get rid of that old radio I might be interested, always fancied the retro look but never had one.

Brill, thanks Phil, I've been able to work it out with your help. £2.69 for two nuts hurts though!

Re: 45 SET
Whilst surfing the waves I came across these monsters - 200uF 800VDC MKP PP caps for £14.38. Worth a try for a power supply perhaps?

Re: C3g Aikido Phono
Nuts. I bought a couple of these to switch the battery power on an off for the MC pre-preamps I'm playing with. https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/E-Switch/100DP1T1B1M1QE?qs=qz1iJzlMsAe3OD3LOti%2F2g%3D%3D Turns out they don't come with a locking nut... I didn't check the detail cos they always c...

Re: 45 SET
I had a bit of a play with vtadiy.com's loadline calculator as it's easier than building spreadsheets like you Paul. https://www.vtadiy.com/loadline-calculators/loadline-calculator/#calculator The results are a little different from Paul's - it's based on Koren spice models. This is the 45 with 4k6 ...
