Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Son did London to Brighton in 4 hours. He's chuffed as it's tricky to go at a decent pace as there are so many other riders...

Swmbo and I did a short 15 miler yesterday - her first outing since bad flu and my first on the bike after it's been serviced.

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

Phil, On the eBay LT1083 board, do the stability caps provided match those specified in the LT datasheet? To be honest, I've no idea. Worth checking. The LT108x series are quite sensitive wrt stability and the datasheet is explicit about the types and values of the required capacitors...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Totally off topic... We're big supporters of Fordhall Organic Farm near Market Drayton (we were one of the original 8,000 community owners). Our children have volunteered there and the farm is at the centre of the local community - over 20,000 visitors a year. They are trying to raise funds to impro...

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

A "common mode" filer on the input to the SMPS will stop some crap from the SMPS escaping back onto the L&N and thus helps protect noise from entering the system via the other PSU components. It has next to no effect on the DC produced by the SMPS. Note that apart from CM noise coming from the SMPS,...

Agreed. They don't want the business.

Unless you have a truly awful claims record or do a bazillion miles a year, then a car like that should be around the GBP 300 mark or less.

Re: Nothing In Particular

Just a short episode of "Coast" from 2012 about Marconi in Ireland - not for a technical audience but fun stuff. Marconi's full history in Ireland seems to have some inconsistencies , but this is really quite fun - I love the absolutely massive capacitors he had. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Saw the Dakotas yesterday - they overflew our village at about 4:40 - a couple of hours late...

Not easy to photograph against a grey sky, but an awesome sight & sound.

Bit of a straggly formation - strung out over a big distance...

Lots of the village were out & watching.

An Investigator.
They're getting better.

Not a lot, but there is a (barely discernable) positive trend...

Yep. They're flying over us too - I thought it was tomorrow but it makes no difference unfortunately as I'm at a conference this week talking to folk about riveting stuff like cryptography/cryptanalysis and social engineering... 👍
