Re: Attendees Owston 1/2 June 19

I would expect the 211 amp to be a perfect match Nick. Based on the Satori driver specs the speakers should be around 94dB (2.83V/1W) efficient and from the volume settings I use them on the P6 amps I have no reason to doubt this. If I cannot get both pairs of speakers in my car I'll have to leave t...

Re: Attendees Owston 1/2 June 19

Steve, Can you please add myself and AndrewL to the list of attendees for the Saturday. It will be good to see you both.. Are you bringing a system? Yes. A CD based system with my LDA P6 amps to drive the new Edingdale GT speakers. However, if David (MCRU) is bringing his pair of P6 amps (?) maybe ...

You don’t want your knob coming out sideways.. :D
It was also quite stiff, but I solved that problem in the process of straightening it up.
Mark,
really what on earth were you thinking about having a stiff knob in the first place?

Re: The Audio-Talk Motorcycling thread.

Very nice Nick. Good to see that at long last you have got the fully restored bike back on the road. Been out on it yet. If so does it bring back fond memories of when you road this in its hey day?
Give me a call if you fancy a ride out together.

Re: Edingdale GT, the ultimate Edingdale? Probably

What a difference! Rounded corners look so good. Must admit, I liked the look of the Norge speakers in one of the earlier posts. Eddy, the problem with those speakers, which are full on elliptical cabinets, is that they are a right pain to make. Unless one has access to professional full workshop m...

Re: Independant Measurements

This thread is very interesting, poster 'HiFiCompass' on DIY Audio - https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/317632-speaker-driver-measurements.html Some manufacturers are closer than others, in terms of stating their driver efficiency and response smoothness ! This just confirms what Scott has b...

Re: Edingdale GT, the ultimate Edingdale? Probably

Yes Greg, the entire aluminium box was skinned in 4mm plywood glued to the case with impact adhesive. I found it important though to first roughen up the surface of the aluminium to form a 'key' for the glue. Once the ply panels are glued into place and the sanded I used a 3/8" round-over bit in my ...

Sounds like a similar job to me boxing-up those crossovers - but you did it about 10 times quicker!
That does looks very S... mart indeed :)
Being able to turn around jobs relatively quickly is perhaps one of the few benefits of being a retired O.A.P. and having more spare time on ones hands.

Re: Edingdale GT, the ultimate Edingdale? Probably

Managed to complete the makeover job on one of the XO boxes. Phew, what a lot of work this has turned out to be. Big lesson learned by me to buy quality cases in future  Anyway here is a BEFORE photo of the bare Aluminium chassis: http://www.audio-talk.co.uk/colin/BEFORE.JPG and here is a AFTER...

Re: Edingdale GT, the ultimate Edingdale? Probably

Nick many thanks for the suggestion. I had forgotten about those guys. To be honest your posting has just reminded me you recommended this company in the past and subsequently Scott and I did use Lincoln Binns for some bespoke laser etched printed binding posts. They are certainly on my list for fut...

Re: Edingdale GT, the ultimate Edingdale? Probably

Agreed Chris. This was an option I was considering as I have used a local garage before who specialise in classic car restorations and who have full spray booth facilities. However, when I unpacked the chassis they are rather crudely made and paint spraying them wouldn't really improve them any. My ...

Re: Edingdale GT, the ultimate Edingdale? Probably

Aluminium chassis' have arrived so now I can start to plan putting the XO boards into them.
First though I need to spray paint them black, a job I hadn't originally planned for.
