Re: Next Owston meet 30 june/1 July 2018

Steve, Can you add myself and AndrewL to the list of attendees for the Saturday please. I shall be bringing my new 3-way passive Open Baffle speakers, now fitted with super tweeters. Hopefully I can hook these up David's (MCRU) amps and front end system as I don't think I'll have the spare room in t...

Re: MY own OB speaker project

Chris, Many thanks for the offer but having just checked the manufacturers datasheet for the compression driver we are using it would appear to have a One piece Polyimide diaphragm and surround. https://celestion.com/product/128/cdx11747/ Scott thinks it may be the actual horn shape the throat taper...

Re: MY own OB speaker project

OK guys so another update on the baffle project. After I had completed the new frames Chris came over for a listen and thought the more powerful bass from the deeper side frames was to him swamping the lower mids some. So we did some experiments with attenuating the bass with a inline resistor place...

Re: OB project, Jame's Quasars copy

That's an aweful pic of me, Dave! ..... I'm psyching myself up to acquiring a pair of something like a 7.5mH air core, at some stage.... Why does the inductor have to be a air core? These in my opinion are best suited to HF filters and ferrite core best for bass filters. The air core must be baked ...

Re: MY own OB speaker project

OK been a while since I did anything with these baffles so between builds of my Edingdale MKII and clone derivatives speakers I managed last week to find the time to making the MKII side frames and bases to improve the lower bass response that was a little lacking from the original side frames. At t...

Re: Impulse H6 Horns

I could be interested; where are you? Ray, Not wishing to poo-poo a sale but since the seller has not provided any manufacturers spec's for the speakers and being 'Horns' you may be thinking they are quite efficient? On the contrary. These are quite insensitive speakers, despite being Horns. They a...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Just got one of these for £110 off in a sale... Nolan N104... - Nolan-N104-1c.jpg - Never had a flip-front before so should be interesting. Especially like the internal sun visor, as I frequently have had difficulty with low sun using my current/old helmet, especially in spring / autumn / winter ti...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Simon,

You have PM.
My email service has been down all morning and they say they are working on it to restore the service but when is anyone's guess.
So postage quotes attached to PM. Let me know which you want to go with and I'll arrange for Monday pick up.

Regards
Colin

Re: Nothing In Particular

Subwoofer plate amps. Anyone got any experience or recommendations? Perhaps even one to sell? Simon, I have two sub-woofer plate amps that are for sale if you are interested. Used very little. They are Monacor SAM-1 units. PM or email me if you are interested. I'd be looking for around £50 each. Ch...

Re: MY own OB speaker project

Thanks for broadening the offer Colin, I would definitely take you up on it but from Somerset it's a long way so not something to be easily undertaken. I'm really interested in this project and very tempted but for one problem I perceive; I only have around 1.5watts per channel available from my Tr...
