Re: Mental health week 14th may

Condolences, sometimes my Ashington friends grandad’s favourite statement “ best to say nowt.” Applies. The older I am the wiser his words are. Similarly often best to do nowt. Doing for people will prevent them doing for themselves and the business of doing I the best therapy. But I do care Anthony

Re: DIY Transistor Amp Using NVA Boards

This is a relevant lookback that many of us here, our journey since the 1st Eggborough. On that occasion there were quite distinct differences in sound between the amplifiers. It wasn't many years in when some of us started looking around at each other and saying..."the standards of what everyone is...

Re: DIY Transistor Amp Using NVA Boards

Couple of weeks ago I was in Mexborough helping out a friend and had time to kill. No it was very last minute so I couldn't give Steve and Melanie warning, they're very kindly allowed me to go round and fall asleep on the sofa, feeding me with lunch plus healthy snacks. Monty seems to think I'm part...

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth

Just wondering if I can take some of the pain out of buying another one or two front baffles from Perspex - with the two smaller holes cut instead of one 8" hole  Land an 8" driver above . Very reasonably-priced. See pics on here http://www.audio-talk.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1116&sta...

Re: 2A3 "Pink SET" Amp Rebuild.

I thought somewhere in the conceptual stage of this build one element decided on was simplicity. I’d take a step back. I like the Steve Bench hum cancellation which doesnt sound simple but it is much simpler than a quality dc supply. Its passive, in that it doesnt form the heater supply it injects t...

Re: 2A3 "Pink SET" Amp Rebuild.

Not so easy to swap as heaters different but metal can 1619 2.5v dht would be worth trying. They've always been cheap. Metal can 6v6 were also always prevalent and cheap. By a stroke of luck AC heating the 1619 driver and the 2a3 might cancel the annoying hundred cycles you're now concerned about. A...

Re: 6B4G - The Resurrection Shuffle

Well you really are making really great sounds in your house with your own design of speaker and your own design of amplifier, so you don't need to apologise.

That badge is pretty damn godawfull though.
