Re: ETF 2017 ( Thomas Mayer )

Yeah, we were thinking true tweeter horns, to be used on top of a midrange horn. Size is an issue.

Re: ETF 2017 ( Thomas Mayer )

I was talking to some of my friends at the etf about possibly printing treble horns, and to me it seems like a good solution. Design a small horn on the computer, print it in two parts, and apply damping on the outside of the horn. Much easier to get a good result that way than making it out of wood...

Re: ETF 2017 ( Thomas Mayer )

I had a look at Dietmar's drivers, but all I can say is they looked very well made, and that they sounded fabulous together with the rest of that system.

Re: ETF 2017 ( Thomas Mayer )

Yes, the Celestions are 2" throat drivers. A new throat section was made for the mid horns to mount the Celestion drivers. The horns that Joe Roberts got looked really cool, at first I thought they were made of wood, but since they are 3D printed it is some kind of plastic. Seemed very resonanc...

Re: ETF 2017 ( Thomas Mayer )

Is the Norwegian system still using 288-B's on the mid horns, and how do those horns do the midrange ? There was that new Celestion driver on the WE replica sectoral horns - any good ? There seems to be some confusion, so I'll post a picture of the Norwegian system that we brought with us to the fe...

Re: ETF 2017 ( Thomas Mayer )

I didn't get to hear the C3m>GM70 amp, or anything in that room, really. The other side of that room was Quads and a lot of room damping ( way too much for my taste ) so everything sounded kind of dead to my tastes. I was much more interested in what speakers were used, if I didn't find the speakers...

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth

Interesting to hear that the very expensive horn system use 3mm of epoxy to cover the wood.
Seems to me they would be better off going all synthetic material in that case, no wood at all.
