Re: Digital.

When I was using my 2011 mac mini for this I had it running into a Beresford tc7510 dac via optical and it was fine. I tried another program called vox that I think sounded abit better than vanilla iTunes to play it, but I've no idea why. I dont have any subscription services Now it's used via an(ot...

Re: lathes

Got round to checking the runout on the new chuck jaws with an ancient borrowed imperial dial guage (why on earth my father in law even has a dial guage I dont know, he's never used a lathe in his life....) and a drill rod, was quite a way out, about 13 thou. so I bored the jaws by clamping a penny ...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Better day today Finished a switching unit build made of olivewood which looks really nice, Repair company rang to say the phone battery had arrived so that got fixed, and fixed the compound table on the mf70 milling machine. I turned up a new threaded bush in steel rather than delrin, shouldn't be ...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Blimey is right although I did say something similar a few times today but in a more colourful manner.

Very nice job on the bench by the way, looks like it was a pig of a job. About a million mortices and tenons by the looks of it

Re: Nothing In Particular

Well that was one particularly rubbish day.... One thing after another, including but not limited to, a proxxon mf70 arriving via parcelforce, 3 days late, and broken. The seller had written the wrong address on the box and evidently thought that a plastic bag wrapped around it in the box (no other ...

Re: lathes

Got the soft jaws for the chuck which fit the scroll nicely, run in and out fine, nice and tight without any slack Looks like the scroll could do with a clean out just to make sure there's no crap in there, had a quick look and it's a bit grotty Could do with a drill rod just to check the runout, lo...

Re: lathes

Decided to order the straight cut jaws, if they fit OK I'll get the inside jaws Also managed to get myself a proxxon mf70 milling machine for a good price. Only little, but spot on for the jobs I have in mind for it. small parts for the unipivot arm I'm working on like headshell parts, arm rest bits...

Re: lathes

Thought as much, I did manage find some that 'should' fit https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F281753185414 The second photo is a chart with the dimensions of the jaws on it and the 80mm dimensions conform to the remaining jaws I have. Measured them with...

Re: lathes

Anyone know whether all 80mm tos chucks have the same jaws? I've lost one of the inside jaws for my md65. Still got the outside Jaws so it's still just about usable as is but not for smaller stuff. I'm loathe to buy another chuck if I can replace the jaw set but I'm not sure if all 80mm tos chucks w...

Re: Nothing In Particular

lenco no 7 came back for some alterations a few weeks ago, namely to fit an uprated bearing. Its one from lencoheaven i think, and is about the same size as a 301 bearing. So is huge compared to the normal one. as such it required some work. The plinth had to be built up to accommodate it, and compl...

Re: Fane 12-250TC Retro Speaker.

Heard these earlier, I dont think they need any more tweaking The tonal balance has smoothed and has tilted down at the top, this has had a knock on effect of bringing the midrange out abit and balancing the bass and the top up Now that the response isn't rising in the same manner as it was Better b...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Got myself some new (to me) cans the other day. Gone wireless with a set of sennheiser rs180s, always had sennys apart from a pair of audio technica ath7 electret ones, but because I can't sit near the system (had to sit on the floor with the AT cans and I'm getting abit old to be doing that) I went...
