Re: Nothing In Particular

Well.. they don't always. Maybe so for late 70's or 80's compilations. Early ones can be really good though - just run through a copy of 'Bumpers' by Island, or one of the Vertigo, Probe or Transatlantic samplers. However they were sticking to under 20mins per side on those.

Ah, FBS, yes.
What gets me about Safe as Milk is that it sounded weird even in 1968 !

Re: Latest vinyl 'finds'.

Two more here. Mils Lofgren's 'first' album, a really nice hardly-played copy. Backs-up the live copy of 'Back it Up' I got recently from the same shop.. Richard and Linda Thompson 'Pour down like silver' . This one I hadn't noticed in the discography so it'll be interesting to see what's good on th...

Re: Latest vinyl 'finds'.

More juicy stuff from the shop in Keswick - Fleetwood Mac's third album, the one where Danny Kirwan joins Peter Green on guitar & songwriting, wanted this for a while, v.much looking forward to playing. With discount I got it for just under £60. Also an early(ish) mono copy of Beefheart 'Safe as Mil...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Cool ! I bought a small bunch of special stuff in Keswick yesterday - will put them up on Vinyl section in a couple of days. Was invited into the house (upstairs) at the record shop - went through a stack of very clean & shiny early Beatles flipbacks and lots of near-mint Caravan - but not their ear...

Re: Maglev

Yes I thought there was a picture of the magnets there somewhere , quite disappointing.
Nick, what do you mean - I assumed there would be some sort of ring magnet on both the plinth and on the platter ?

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth

I'd be a bit wary on that front to be honest. I like the FX120 very much; I've said for the thick end of 15 years it's about the best 4 1/2in driver Fostex have made.... However, it's also a different animal to the P13. It's about 23% down in terms of radiating surface area, and the frequency respo...
