Re: Latest DSD Decoder Project

I've been progressing this project quietly and it has now moved on quite a bit for the better so it's time to put it into a nice chassis so that its fit for everyday use. The DSD decoder board has been replaced with an updated version that uses Lundahl ll1684 transformers. In addition, the Amanero U...

Re: 300B Headphone Amp

I had some time on my hands today (no cycling in this weather) so I dusted off a couple of semi-dormant projects, including this one. I finished off asembling these boards and hatched a plan to incorporate my Soekris DAM 1121 DAC board into a chassis with these units; It should make a nice combo for...

Re: 6C33C SE-OTL Project

More soldering today; assembled the boards for the Neurochrome Maida regulated supply that will power the 6SN7 driver stage along with the regulated supply for the 6SN7 filaments.

Just waiting for the chassis and toroid to arrive and I can start bolting it all together.

Oh for a 15 ohm version of the Fane 12-250TC
But then you would be in the market for the 300B SE-OTL, or maybe even the 6C33C build that Wolfgang took the lead on!

Shanling M0 Portable Music Player

I was gifted some money for my recent birthday and, after reading the recent review in HiFi World, I thought I would take a punt on a new music player and bought one of these; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shanling-M0-Mini-Hi-Res-MP3-Player-Bluetooth-Aptx-DSD-FLAC-Lossless-Music-Player/222995647447?has...

Excellent Steve. I kind of celebrated for you this evening by listening to some Dusty Springfield!

Re: 6C33C SE-OTL Project

Not much progress lately because of some family health issues needing my time but yesterday I finally ordered the chassis for my 6C33C build. Because of heat management considerations I've gone for a 'Dissipante' from Modushop; https://i.imgur.com/X12bNXN.jpg and specified some additional machining ...

BTW Ali, why the Pinnacle and not a scratch build of the 300B SE-OTL? Is it just the extra Watts?

Re: Transcendent Mini Beast Build

It was. Still remember how good the treble sounded. Ali, I suspect it'll sound a bit different - push/pull vs SE topology - but still veryy fine. If Wolfgang drops by he may be able to comment as I know he's experience of both. I'm making some progress with my 6C33C SE-OTL project based on Wolfgang...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

I do yoghurt most days too, mostly with my muesli for breakfast. Yoga dearest! Yoga :) Yogurt is one of the things I've cut out my daily diet, there was a lot of sugar in the type we were eating as a sweety nibble after dinner. Ah! I generally have natural live yoghurt, sans sucre, often with some ...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Have other members of 'the squad' found that too? Do your cycle lungs and legs stay with you as long as you do a modicum of solid riding? Pretty much, in fact after I take a break from riding for a week I find I generally go even better when I do get out... I do at least 7miles every day just on th...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

I took the day off work today (cos its me burfday - 61 today) and treated myself to a trip to the seaside. When I got there (Blue Anchor) I enjoyed a nice mug of coffee an a piece of jam flapjack at the Driftwood cafe (highly recommended); https://i.imgur.com/iQYHM9j.jpg and watched 'Foxcote Manor' ...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Not posted for a few weeks as I don't want to be a bore but have been turning out the miles regularly. I had a good ride out with a work colleague early this morning, up onto the Blackdown Hills with two long climbs and some steep shorter gradients. It was a bit damp and the last few miles were in h...
