Yes, I tried it with headphones and it’s really, very good. Excellent value for money.
Good to hear, that's my hope/expectation...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

As its supposed to be summer I've taken to doing some longer routes home on the bike.

My office is only 2 miles from home but last evening the commute took me 10 miles and this evening 15 miles.

Re: Nothing In Particular

The dual motor arrived today, fired it up to check it was working and ran it with the platter on. Just stood on the table on its plastic base cover There was no noise. None. It was absolutely silent. No vibrations or noises, no bearing noise, the bearing runs in an oil bath BTW, you can see the oil...

Re: Transcendent Sound Masterpiece.

The Masterpiece is the basis of the HPA I'm (very) slowly scratch building - it's a Masterpiece with a Soekris R2R DAC integrated into the chassis. One day I'll be able to use it via my mobile phone (lossless FLAC output via USB OTG connection) or by connection to the home network for streamed music...

Re: Latest DSD Decoder Project

I've just had a tracking update and the replacement Twisted Pear Cronus reclocker is on its way across the pond.

As its gratis, to replace the faulty board, it'll be interesting to see if HRMC try to extort any money out of me.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Just got home from seeing Eddi Reader and her band at the local theatre. She's barking but what a great show and that amazing voice! Fantastically evocative rendition of Fairground Attraction (the song). Must listen again to the Fairground Attraction and her solo albums, it's been too long. The supp...

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

I guess the thing to do is build one and test run it with a load resistor to see how it goes over a longish period of time.

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

Yes, that's the sort of thing I had in mind Phil. What voltage/current did you run it at and was it reliable?

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

If its a simple linear then yes, Current * ( Vin - Vout) is roughly the dissipation in the regulator. But its a different matter if its a switching regulator. Cheers Nick. I was thinking LT1084 in a very simple voltage regulator circuit (essentially as per datasheet) and aiming for 28.5V raw DC on ...

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

It seems like an unnecessary complication without context. Although I'm sure there is a reason As Paul said Ant, I've noticed that there are times when simple AC heating exceeds the voltage rating of the filament - I assume that over time this might result in a reduced life for the 13E1s with the t...

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

Just thinking out loud about the options for powering the 13E1 filaments, any thoughts on a DIY circuit for a linear supply that would be suitable? 13E1 datasheet gives filament spec as 26V @ 1.3A or 13V @ 2.6A. There are voltage regulator devices that seem to have the right voltage and current numb...
