More like 300w if this differential concept works. No don't need that amount of power. Using Yamaha ns1000m. They are quite efficient. But am interested in merit of balanced connection with its noise cancelling benefits. Hence the 20db attenuates. The amp has gain controls too. So should be able to ...

balanced connection to a 4 channel amp...will this work
Hi everyone, looking for someone with more experience than me as to an idea I have with some recently acquired HiFi. I have an M-DAC which has the option of balanced output via XLR. I have just bought a beast of a SS amp off ebay - it is a DBX DX3 4 channel power amp. It has 2x stereo phono inputs, ...

thanks all
thanks everyone for your kind comments. It is funny to reflect. I have loved all things about HiFi, from the age of about 12! I am now 48, but still feel 12. My late father was a trad Jazz fanatic, and had a great system. Garrard 401, SME II, B&O cartridge if i remember correctly, with Quad 33/3...

Hello from Watford
Hi there all
Recently joined and wanted to say hello
I am currently trying to decide whether to take a change in direction with my HiFi set-up which is mainly Naim based (all second hand) and am particularly considering new amplification and speakers.
Look forward to learning more...

thanks Colin if i am honest, i am in two minds where to go...I have built up a fairly decent Naim setup over the years, and now feel it is tine for a major change. I have gone totally digital with steaming and an M-DAC for both the DAC and pre amp duties. So am thinking of selling up a load of naim ...

would you be up for another Yamaha restoration?
Did post on another thread, then found this one. These were the speakers I saw on pfm, and fell in love with the veneer. I am thinking of buying a sad old set of NS1000 in black and would like to know if you could repeat you miracle work, including the stands?
Kind regards
David

possible re-veneering of Yamaha NS1000
Hi there, I have just joined this forum, and have been told by a fellow pfm forum member that his Yamaha's were re veneered by Toppsy. I too am considering this as a possible route hence this post. Mind you on reading about your speaker design, I am wondering if a change of plan is in order. Do you ...
