Re: Leak Truspeed turntable restoration

I don't really remember ever playing with one and had an idea the suspension was rubber as in squash-balls or similar. Long ago memories though.. Edit - I just checked an old eBay sale and it does indeed appear to have springs in the suspension - how odd, unless they changed it later on in it's lif...

Re: WAD Phono2 power supply.

It’s going to be a week or two before I’ll have time to do a rebuild. Meanwhile, as ever, thanks Nick. Your help is invaluable and much appreciated.

Re: Nothing In Particular

I've just watched season 7 episode 4 and a feeling of foreboding has come upon me...oh waily waily Shane, in my opinion you are wrong, that John Snow is a smart cookie! He’s learned a lot since his girlfriend told him that. Apart from anything else, he’s marrying her. https://www.theguardian.com/tv...

Re: WAD Phono2 power supply.

Looks like I might need to ditch the strip board in that case. Bit of a rethink needed.

Leaving the hum aside, is the fact that I’m only getting a couple of bolts drop across the MJSR board significant?

Re: WAD Phono2 power supply.

The HT bridge, caps and 100r resistor are all mounted on strip board with short jumper leads to the choke. The strip board also carries bridges and caps for two 9V supplies, one for the heaters and one for a relay that connects the two 9V transformer windings together. There are two umbilicals to th...

Re: WAD Phono2 power supply.

Hmmm. Perhaps it’s just a figment of my imagination. AC voltages are B. 5.75V C. 1.63V D. 9mV E. 5mV The scope on point C agrees. This is .5V/div. , and on point E it gave the same waveform a bit rounded off at about 1mV. Crap photo but you get the drift. http://www.thepippin.plus.com/Misc/Scope.PNG

Re: WAD Phono2 power supply.

While swapping the chokes over I measured the transformer and bridge voltages open circuit. Transformer gives 236.5, the output of the bridge was 321.3.

Re: WAD Phono2 power supply.

Nick’s original circuit here: viewtopic.php?t=6204 . Go to the second one halfway down the page.

Phono 2 itself draws about 5mA, so about 25mA is being shunted down the Zeners. Should be nearer 15 to 20, but not too far off.

Re: WAD Phono2 power supply.

Just installed the MJSR. 250v delivered to the Phono2 board. Thank you very much. It still hums. 50Hz, just loud enough to be intrusive at normal levels. Definitely psu related as if I cut the HT, the hum stops instantly and I get about 20 seconds of blissful music. I’m also still getting strange vo...

Commiserations, Nick. Losing a much loved family pet is always hard, especially when you have to make the decision yourself.

Re: Nothing In Particular

Took the dog up onto Hanger Down behind Ivybridge a couple of days ago. Nice view over toward Modbury and Salcombe.
