All very valid suggestions Nick, thanks for pointing them out.
Normally I'm not adverse to breadboarding, but this time I fancied a different approach.
I'll finish the boxes first, then re-appraise the situation.

Why is this thread in existence? Nelson has his designs on his forum.

Because this is documenting a build of that design.mainscablesrus wrote:Why is this thread in existence? Nelson has his designs on his forum.

Funny, this is just like being at work . There are people who buy and sell stuff and people who build stuff.

OK, what I've decided to do is just use a box base for the PSU and breadboard the actual amp bit. I've not really got a design for the amp bit so it's not a problem.
The reason behind the two box design was to fit it in an existing space and make each part liftable without straining my pooper.

Is it a bit of a monster ? - I haven't looked at the pics or threads on this amp.

He he !
No , I mean elsewhere, is there a circuit or any amp builds on DIY Audio for instance ( must be ). Presumably it's a a good bit heavier and bigger than an F4 or F5 ?

My builds are probably bigger because I allow more space between components, although that is not necessarily the best way.
Transformers in particular I don't like too close together.
And, because it's only for me I don't have to worry about how others (potential purchasers) see it.

Phil's builds are almost like scupltures, he thinks about what things look like and where they're placed, asthetically.

Just to show I do listen (sometimes ) I took note of Nicks suggestion to breadboard the prototypes.
So, this afternoon, I have cut two pieces of 1" thick MDF to size and coated them with sanding sealer.
I'll coat them with white paint, as is my trademark, and sort out some form of "legs" underneath so they are easy to pick up.

Just get a sheet of these

Then spend time on the actual build

I think Phil's got something more "robust" in mind. He does like his woodwork bits.
