Sod 'em Andrew if it keeps the sides on then use screws!

Blood has been spilled.

Not surprising really considering there always is blood spilled when I get cutting, drilling, filing etc, so why should speakers be any different!

I was in the bath a couple of hours ago; best place to be unless you want to actually do anything other than soak and think. I totted things up; £350 all in.

So, I have used a few judicious screws, deeply set so they can be filled over. Some of the wood had not stuck - bugger 'hard as nails' eh! but these are long pieces of wood. I strongly recommend the use of clamps. I haven't got any but I would have used them if I did. The magnets of tehspeakers are treated with bathroom filler - smooth.

I am now on the final list but need to slow down as I am experimenting with stain and varnish - these will take time to dry. Next I need to fill the ramps, then drill for binding posts and run wires to the fronts - stain the insides and try some varnish.

Then I close the coffins - - - Loads of glue and and a few more strategic screws - I feel better about using screws; they go so tight! But then no more can be done to the insides. Things are sealed or they will leak - done, but not yet dusted.

Then the outsides need serious rubbing/sanding down, stain and varnish, build up the patina.

Fix the drivers and then ... But day time job and stuff will also slow me down.

Whahey! Coming along nicely then. You could've borrowed my clamps dear (nurse!). I only have enough for one cab being glued at a time though, I used 4 clamps and 2 bailey boxes for each cab.

Stick with it Mr I, they reward.

Evo-Stik wood adhesive. Never let me down yet. Seems every time I go to get wood glue I think must get proper PVA this time, until I read the blurb on the bottle, compare it to the blurb on the Evo-Stik bottle, and decide sod it the Evo-Stik's better and far less hassle to use ectually

Well, next time then. Evo-stik is an impact adhesive, I believe. That would feel immediately better to me as I could see the wood bonding together but what's its long term effectiveness with wood?

Maybe the prob. here is just the enormous slabs of wood and trying to do the job without (proper) tools.

Anyway, tomorrow I begin the long tidy up process (covering the bodges) because all the inside bits are done.

No, Evo-Stik's PVA wood adhesive. In green squeezy bottle. Not the trade name stringy brown stuff that comes in a tube.

welllllllllllllllllllllll, both coffin lids are nailed down (screws and glue) and I've started playing with stain and varnish. I need filler for the screw heads, too so tomorrow...

But here's a piccy of one of the rat-runs; just to remind me of the sheer hell and torture I've put myself through.

Tomorrow evening I could fire them up.

Do you think I will??? Wink
