Has anyone ever heard of GCP speakers ?
No identifying features apart from a "GCP" badge on the front baffle.
They are probably not "hi-fi" speakers !! _________________ Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.

Bit rare then!
Suspect "GCP" may be like a a maker's name for a complete system, not necessarily confined to just speakers. Like one of those obscure names the Japanese keep thinking up _________________ I'm not really here this is a life-sized cardboard cut-out |

Fook-inell...
You interested in them then?
My most recent Google-ism turned up "PS Audio". So these seem to be a product of PS Audio.
A lot of their product model numbers seem to be prefixed "GC" something or other

You could always copy one of the pix and ask PS Audio themselves "what is this".
What's the worst that could happen?

Despite advice to the contrary I won these speakers !
Now everyone should have known that GCP was Goodmans !!
They are in fact a pair of Goodmans Magisters.
Just unloaded them out of the car and going to make a space in the living room to try them out.

I reckon you've done quite well then.
You don't get any sense of scale from the photos, they look small.
If all else fails you've got some reasonably efficient drivers to play with.
I wonder if they might sound good without the backs on. _________________ Much to learn there is. |

Well the original intention was to go with an OB type speaker, but it would be such a shame to do that now I know what they are.
The size is 20" wide, 27" high and 14" deep.
They might be worth a bit more than I paid for them.
Interestingly the mid range and tweeter look more modern than some of the pictures I found on the web,and these have Croydon on the label not Havant.

There are two 1" dia holes in the baffle at the bottom, and corresponding holes in the grill frame.
I was under the impression (from other pictures) that these should be a sealed box ?
I have now wired up my Hammond 5K transformers properly and am running the Magisters from PT15 (triode mode) and 4 ohm tap. They don't sound bad ! _________________ Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.

The more I looked at the e-bay pictures the more convinced I was that these were no "disco" type speaker, they just looked like they were a "quality" item.
As I was unable to view before bidding I was pleased to find out what they were.
They are too big to be "keepers" but I will enjoy them for a little while. _________________ Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.
