Some nice vinyl diversions today:
The Beatles - Abbey Road and Magical Mystery Tour
10cc - Greatest Hits 1972-1978
Diane Schuur - Talkin' 'Bout You
(Only took 3 plays with a K18 back in 1988 to wreck it through mistracking damage) I managed a side before the damage became too intrusive. Pity as it is such a fantastic record. Will have to find a second hand CD copy somewhere.
Don Lusher Big Band - Pays Tribute to the Great Bands
Lightning Seeds - Jollification.

Sonny Rollins 'Sonny and the Stars'
On a Transatlantic disc from 1967, but I think the tracks were recorded a lot earlier, either 1963 or in the 50's, not clear from the back-blurb.
Some nice 'sidemen' on there, Miles Davis, Milt Jackson, Art Blakey, Roy Haynes...
Stop Press : now I find this LP was a reissue of his first album from 1951 -

'A Song for Me' Family
Wow, got this a few weeks ago, hadn't played.
Now I understand what that song is ( Drowned in Wine ) that is such an ace part of Nicholas Roeg's 1971 Glastonbury film.
Superb recording too.

Mavis Staples - If All I Was Was Black, released this week.
Let's just say stunning and leave it at that.
A great sounding recording to go with the high quality material with a message.
Stream it today, you know it makes sense.

Just watching ( listening atm ) to the Gilmour concert from Pompei on TV. 'Great Gig in the Sky', the female backing vocalists are TERRIBLE - totally overblown R&B style shrieking - where is Clare Torry when we need her ?
