#1 Any Klipschorns out there ?

Post by IslandPink »

Just wondered if anybody here knows anyone with a pair of the 'proper' Klipsch's ie. the Klipschorn . Any era of build is OK.
Would be nice to hear the bass/lower-mid performance on these.

Tony the owner across on PFM has a pair of La Scalas in his TV system powered by a 1.8watt Decware amp.

Can't think of any others sorry.

They do seem to be rather rare , over here particularly. I have a friend down the road who has LaScalas, quite familiar with those thanks. They are quite good, but very much compromised in the bass relative to the corner horns.

Some years ago now, I knew a chap in Northampton with a pair bought new not long before I heard them, set up as instructed a bit too far apart by conventional standards. Absolutely lovely sound with pretty natural tonalities (unlike smaller Klipsches which can shout and scream) and proper central imaging too despite sitting a bit too close to them. He was using a Quad 99 system and I could hear nothing untoward at all. Easy to listen straight 'through' them to the music performance. Unlike a very early pair I once heard which only really sounded good with very early mono or early simple stereo recordings, these new ones coped well with multi-phased rock and pop stuff too with no smearing or odd phasing effects.
