30 miles yesterday with Jonny StarBux (My 28 y/o step-Son) on his 1st bike ride in many years. I've given him my old geared bike after he expressed a desire to start cycling to his job in West London ~9 miles away from his home in Balham.
We did this as a test run to see how he'd get on -> https://www.relive.cc/view/g14623129099
He did good.
Then after stopping over here for the night he said, "I fancy riding back home to Balham", coooolio! We worked out the route, ~20 miles, So, I joined him for the ride heading to the 'gateway to the south'... -> https://www.relive.cc/view/g14644365213
Had lunch, then ta-ra's and I headed back -> https://www.relive.cc/view/g14644365795
Nice relaxed way to do 70 miles over 2 days.

Does he make the holes in toothbrushes?
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

No chaffing as such but he did say he felt bruised a tad around the botty cheeks, I told him to observe Rule 5 of the Velominati of course.
No.
He works at Montague Moths making soup.

Good stuff Mr B. Please feel free to take on my allocation of miles too...
Visited the GP today and got signed-off until next week (at least, he'll reassess on Monday) and he tells me it might take a couple of months before the base of my back is completely comfortable again. I've cut right back on the painkillers today so a fair bit of pain and discomfort but despite that I can feel a little more movement and I'm walking easier. Tomorrow's challenge is not to graze so much for comfort and, maybe, try picking up the soldering iron...

Nearly 62 miles today, Dirtfud to Gunnersbury to Balham then back home, just because I felt like a ride. Very enjoyable too.

Keep at it Mr. Bass.
I'm still off work (signed-off until next Monday) but am continuing to recover slowly. Mobility is improving but still some discomfort around the coccyx (known as coccydynia - must be a laugh in there somewhere) which makes sitting comfortably difficult.
I'm going to try and do a little work on my DAC project later on.

Glad that you're on the mend Ray!
Not got the bike yet, but bought some Lake carbon shoes plus SpeedPlay cleats and pedals...
When hiring a bike out here they will put your own pedals on - makes life a whole bunch easier
Back on the F1 track tomorrow - I'll try to remember to take photos this time...

I've been back to work this week so well on the road to recovery. I plan to start some sessions on a gym spin bike next week.
I recovered the bike I was riding when I had my spill and had it professionally checked out. Given the magnitude of the crash I'm amazed at how little damage there is to the bike. I was expecting the brake levers and bar tape to be chewed up and lots of scrapes to the skewers and derailleurs but no, they're unmarked, no scrapes to the paintwork either, just some rubber marks from where the front wheel came around onto the down tube. The handlebars have given the top tube a big whack that has left a mark on the paint but it seems the carbon tube isn't damaged - just something to keep an eye on - other than that the damage extends to scraped pedals and a small buckle in the rear wheel (now trued up). Looks like I've been fortunate with the damage to me and the bike.
