excuse me Neal, though hearty congrats! YOU are next (for an MOT) Jesus! the grammar should have revealed the meaning alone...
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Oh yes Mike.

Thanks Mike. Just barely holding together here, even so. My limitations are exposed in this tricky life situation :(

These are the really tough times in life that put the other problems in to perspective. Hang in there Mark, sounds like you're doing well all things considered.

Group Hug much appreciated. Spoke to physio today - might be an Intermediate Care stage after they move her out of hospital.

I'm off to the Model Engineering show (Alexandra Palace Londinium) shortly.

Looking forward to seeing some really interesting things. :D

Haven't been there for about 20 years. Used to be a great show, but mostly centred around scale steam engines...

Good for decent tools and odd hardware (BSF, BASE,BA..) and metal/plastic stock bars/rods/studding/sheet etc.

Would be interested in a report back.

Me too!
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

The exhibition (Model Engineering) was interesting, but mainly for the railway related items.

Highlight was a 5" gauge model of a Stanier LMS pacific, Duchess of Hamilton.

Award for most ambitious project was a huge model of an American "Big Boy" 4-8-8-4 loco. It was not complete, but what was done was superb.I forgot to take my camera, but this is what a real "Big Boy" looks like.

Sounds great . I still remember going to a Meccano meeting in Wigan in the mid-70's . Some of the stuff was amazing.

Saga with mum in hospital continues. Shoulder is progressing well, but she can barely get out of a chair or walk because of her poor right leg and relatively weak left arm. We thought she could get into 'intermediate care' soon, but they won't take her with the arm still in a sling, apparently. Now they are talking about 'respite care'. This may cost money. That's OK , but not sure what this would look like - might be grim if she ends up in some random care home. I'm struggling to think how me or my sister could provide enough 24-hour care at the house without giving up our jobs. Feeling quite guilty about it.
In the meantime I'm thinking we need to start planning for a stairlift in the house ( even though she doesn't want one  ). First problem I can see is that they'll come to assess this and refuse to do it because the house needs re-wiring....
Any advice gratefully received !

Speak to Social Services - she may be entitled to all sorts of support now which could save you all a bob or two - it's amazing what's out there if you look.
