Anyone using a Logitech Transformer as a preamp?

I think we all know by now what this section is for.

#1 Anyone using a Logitech Transformer as a preamp?

Just curious if there are any Slim Devices Transformer or Logitech Transformer users here, and if anyone uses it as a preamp.

I don't know what you are talking about. Can you be more descriptive?

Yes, thank you. I guess I had transformers on the brain. I am referring to a Logitech Transporter LE or the original version; Slim Devices Transporter.

It's a marvelous piece of gear and I can't understand why Logitech discontinued both it and it's little brother, the Sqeezebox Touch.

Even though they've been discontinued for a few years now, I recently found and purchased a NIB Transporter LE and I love it. I'm even using it as the preamp in my system.

Heard one with the Modwright mods done to it, very good indeed. I also used a Touch for a couple of years, great bit of kit (when it worked)

I have been using a Logitech Transporter for good while now. I'm not how you would use it as a preamp though, unless you mean it's your only source and you use the Transporters digital volume control and connect the outputs direct to your power amplifier.

How would you handle phono input?

Hi mate,

I have a Transporter, the original one with the Nav Wheel.
Got curious, tried it as a preamp, worked great.
Use mine now as a digital transport via BNC to the Dac, sounds pretty awesome.

Some good info on using the TP as a pre:

Anything else gimme a shout, not many of us Transporter users about!

That was my reaction too. Having transferred all of my CD's to a hard drive for streaming thru the Transporter, I didn't see the point in leaving my old Carver C1 pre in the loop anymore so took out the Carver and I find that the Transporter sounds exquisitely good.

Perhaps unique to the Transporter is that all other streamers I've seen apply volume control only to the analog outs, whereas the Transporter volume controls its digital outs as well. This allowed me to feed its optical out directly into a digital crossover such that my bi-amp setup now has only a single DA conversion in the signal path.

I do LOVE my Transporter !

Its a cool bit of kit. :)
Digital swiss army knife really.

Not using mine as a Pre anymore though, but it sounded great when I did.
Have a seperate Pre, just use the Transporter as a, uhm, transport now.
