#1 New CD player.

Post by pre65 »

I took a "punt" on a faulty Denon DVD-3910 today on Ebay.

It was local and cost me £10 + a few bob for fuel to collect.

The seller sold it as "spares and repair" and said it would not play DVDs but would play CDs. It's in the main system now and playing a CD through the Bushmaster 2 DAC. Initial impression (after 10 mins) is a more "solid" sound, but time will tell.

It seems well built, and fairly heavy, it's not listed as being a SACD player, but that's no great problem.

EDIT. I lie, it does play SACD, three different ways. :D

I have had a few scrapes with customers that have demensia.

One old man rings. "Hello do you fix my boiler?'...."yes"... "can you come please it isn't working."

Go round?

"hello, who are you?" /.... "I fix your boiler"... "oh, do you know where it is?" "yes."

fix boiler come down stairs. "who are you?" "I fix your boiler"....

feels like your robbing them when your geting paid, because you have to convince them that you have done something.

I've gone an ordered myself a Cambridge CXC CD transport as my Christmas present to me. :D

I've read some very good reports, and only "problem" seems to be they need to run in for a while before giving their best.

I'll post more when it gets to me.

Richer Sounds were selling them at £300, but they are now £250 so I got in quick. :)

The CXC transport has been delivered. :)

It's a bit cold, so I'll leave it to aclimatise for an hour or so, then we see if it's as good as they say. Seems they need quite a few hours to "run in" so not expecting perfection today.

Still only got about 8 hours playing so far, so it will be a while yet.

Initial impressions are favourable. :D

I've tried the TDA1541 DAC in both modes (O/S & NO/S) and have a slight preference for NO/S.

I'll try it with the Bushmaster 11 soon.
