Has anyone been tempted to try this. for the price it looks interesting and they have a good pedigree for making excellent tripath 2050 amp kits.
I must say I am tempted to buy one after Christmas to compare to the Ebay Dac

#4 Cheap sabre dac

Post by bostod »

I have recently bought one of these cheap sabre DAC's from hifimediy.
http://hifimediy.com/index.php?route=pr ... duct_id=87

It has been developed with the help of a thread on diyaudio.

I must say for the price it does sound very good indeed.I bought the matching power supply for convenience.I have done comparison with a Beresford bushmaster DAC and it compares favourably. I'm guessing with a better power supply this will get even better

Ooo interesting. With the PSU box this is now looking like a complete set.

Another one worth considering is this:

USB is async capable. Can be powered from the USB or separate supply. No volume control, headphone output and you will still need a DAC but as an interface converter it works very well.
