99.9F - Suzanne Vega
#1 99.9F - Suzanne Vega
Not player related, but this track is on The Retrospective CD (and probably others). There is something weird about it that I can't quite put my finger on. If you have this track, can you listen to it and see if you can hear anything odd, especially when she is singing.
Thanks,
Brian.

Too late!
For those haven't got it, here's a youtube link:

Yes there seems to be almost like a faint electronic distortion / hollow echoey effect superimposed over it, but difficult to be sure as I'm using the notebook speakers at the mo

I think the problem is whatever effects unit was used to create that effect. I can only hear the problem in the left channel, but it sounds like some kind of aliasing to me. I thought it was my equipment, but I can hear it on a CD player, ipod, MP3, different amplifiers, different speakers, so I assume it's not the kit. They were all from the same CD, but all the other tracks are OK, so I think it's at "their" end.

I've gave the lp a couple of plays earlier.. nothing strange to report on a proper record,.. sounds really good, there's lots of stuff goiing on in there
there are a some strings accomp her voice some of the time, and that deep, low, 'echo' chorus that she sings twice...

ARSENAL! (old Morecambe & Wise joke)
Pretty sure a 'scope won't show anything meaningful
Be aware there's several different copies from different albums! Including two acoustic....brig001 wrote:Thanks Mike, I'll try the itunes version tonight and report back. It could just be the CD that we have.

Well, I got a copy from itunes, and it's fine - well as fine as it ever gets from there. The version I have a problem with is on the Retrospective album, the one I downloaded is from the album 99.9F. All very strange as they should be the same. Thanks for all the help anyway,
Brian.
