Zappatite is a decent entry compilation to FZ's work, with the occasional minor skirmish with the more serious (but still sometimes offbeat & humerous) instrumental works FZ produced.
Carry on with the good work Steve.

I'm playing this at the moment ...

Beck - Sea Change

A really really knackered copy of the buddy holly story.
It sounds more authentic with the massive amout of noise on it.

I heard Laura Mvula talking on the radio last week, she writes and sings her music, started off with a laptop in her bedroom. I punted thro' eBay and picked up thrre CDs, the orchestral one hasnt arrived but the other two were by return.
Now it ain't rock n roll but there's an awful lot to be listeners to and I can hear her words..Easy references are Amy W. Adele big band stuff and her own ideas (iho) .

I might like it, I just might but this is a bit modern where RnB does not mean what I call RnB - praps I'm getting old and not quite so with it as once I thought I was.

Looking forward to the full orchestra album. Cor, what Id do with a symphony orchestra!!!!! I'd call it 3 1/2 Motels and ... ppphhhhrrroooooaaaaarr
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

I don't want a symphony orchestra, I'd rather prefer it if a symphony orchestra wanted me...

bit of a smart arsed answer, apologies Andrew......

was that a ref to 100 motels?.......I saw Kent Nagano at the Barbican doing Frank's stuff back in the day, does that count?

scuse the rambling....Skype just buzzed from France and completely overwrote my screen and I'm not sure I've recovered it correctly....oh waily waily

Back to live music:

This evening it was the Modigliani Quartet playing Schubert, Brahms, Puccini & Mendelssohn, plus a fabulous encore. Beautiful venue & acoustically, spot on.

Quite sublime - not a "rave" you understand - no dancing in the isles, but my heart is lightened and soul distinctly refreshed :)

Note: They pointed out that the total age of their four instruments is over 1,000 years...

Just got back from a concert at Huddersfield town hall.

Brighouse and Rastrick and Foden brass bands joined in playing "Brass around the world".

Most enjoyable, and misty eyes at times. :D

Nice one!
Couple of decent bands there.
I last heard a brass band at my local Tesco store last Christmas.
Unfortunately there was someone on the E♭ Tenor Horn who had a tenuous grip on the melody and of making the instrument hit the notes in it - it ruined what was a decent performance by the rest of the band
