Re: New Vortexbox - hardware sugestions

Thanks. Would I connect the A) Vortex box. B) Squeezebox C) NAS D) Main PC all directly to the router ? (wired) And if necessary,(say for an Owston),could I just connect the Squeezebox to the NAS ? Yes to A, B, C & D. For the bit in bold, it's a bit more involved than that. You have a Squeezebo...

No.
Depending on the player it may or may not pass 24/192 data over the SPDIF. The default is usually not, and the player will downsample 24/192 to 24/96 prior to sending the data over the SPDIF.

Is it that special audiophile dust you've sprinkled on the rack?

Re: Ooh, what's this ?

It's really good that Michael Hedges album.
My copy didn't cost anything like the price of an Origin Live tonearm

Re: vinyl in a magazine

Snap it up whiles it's available.
It's a decent pressing, whatever the source is, and £5.00 is nothing.
I have a copy spinning right now .....

Re: Music Streaming for Teenager (and SB Touch)

In my experience Spotify works fine with the Touch. I will add that I don't use the embedded server in the Touch - I have LMS running and use the Triode plugin. If you're using the embedded server and connecting via www.mysqueezebox.com then I can't vouch for it, and I have heard of folk having prob...

Re: Fender Telecasters

I'd love to have an American Standard Telecaster, in natural, with a one piece Maple neck. There's something about black pickguards on Teles that floats my boat. The belly cut is something I like (I don't think my figure will return to the "racing snake" status of my youth), and the sound,...

Re: Home digital music setup...

Having used Squeezebox for many years I'd look at RasPi builds and run the lot using something like PiCorePlayer and use LMS as server. The RasPi players are happy running on LMS, and LMS is the strength of the Squeezebox way of doing things. You can get integrated amplifier boards that fit on the P...

Re: 'Fender' Strat Pickups - interest?

I'd just like to add that I too like the Fender "Fat 50s" pickups. I have a set of the Hot Noiseless pickups in my Pearl White Deluxe Strat at the moment, and I like them, but I'm very tempted to switch 'em out for Fat 50s. If I do decide to switch 'em out I'll get all the parts necessary ...

Re: 'Fender' Strat Pickups - interest?

<FX> Tannoy announcement chime....</FX> "Paging Mangler.... a Mr S Mangler... would you please report to the thread please, thank you." It looks to be doing alright without any interjection from me :) The standard pickups on the Mexican Strats have ceramic bar magnets. The pickups are OK,...
