At 18 + 18 VAC in I would expect maybe 30v on the anode, 2v on the cathode and 0v on the grid. Pure guess of course.

Cool I will have a play tonight. I use a number of the things now, they make great cathode follower loads, and I want to play with them as a shunt regulator with a valve on top to do the hard work.

The dynamic resistance is Volts change divided by current change is that right?

If so I make it a shade over 320k
Are you measuring this with the 470k resistor in parallel with the CCS?

Looks good, the only unknown is the AC behavior.

Would a current source with a parallel resistance not be close enough for most purposes?

There are pspice models of the 900v item.

Yep, keeping the lower stuff away from the full range driver does a lot for the sound.

It would be interesting to compare to mine with the 167 in, not sure yet if I will have space to bring it all.

Colin, how do you fancy sharing a hired van for the weekend?

I brought a few (more than 2!) for playing with 'Doe-a-deer-amp' (which I'm frightened of...) but plans are still on-going for that Smile
Ahh, that reminds me of the first 211 breadboard, I had built it but bottled out on turning it on and had to go for a long dog walk to pluck up the courage :-)

You may also want to look out for some Svetlana 6c33c's. When I was messing with the valve, I found the Svets were measurably more linear than the more common Ulyanov ones.
