This is a picture of a guitarist for reference...
I thought Roy Wood was more often a sax player.
For reference, here's a picture of a bassist.
Yep, only a bassist would stand holding the end of a rope connected to a rocket.

Nick, 100W into a full stack is incredibly loud. Very few people use anywhere near that amount of power.
Here's why...
Yes I know :-).

Especially if you want the sound of the output stage and rectifier sagging, not just the front end clipping.

5-20 circuit was only published to promote what Mullard called their "World Series" of valves which included EF86, ECC83 and EL34.
Well there would have been no other reason.

Quality is as good or better than CD, depends on the resolution and sample rate of the source. Your description of a squeezebox is basically right, though the newest (which I think Ali is bringing to Owston also can contain its own storage instead of needing a remote computer). I dont think there ar...

How can I lower the gain on my incontinence ? Would inserting a motor run cap help ?
Maybe, applying some feedback would certainly work, just connect the output to the input and see how it goes.

or not .... as there are hundreds of valve amp users with varying degrees of neg.feedback employed who are happy with what they hear. Where it can be written as "or not .... as there are hundreds of X who are happy with what they hear." where X can be many things, for example "Bose u...

I believe it also restores default settings as well.
Which is probably worth doing anyway as you have no idea how its currently configured.

Guess I should not ask how you come to have a PC with a password protected bias.

I would think its main merit is simplicity. Though it IS using a valve of course, just not an additional one. I would guess its main failing is lack of balance, it only gives balance if the load is equal on both sides, which I can see it may not be in some cases. And I can see balance falling off at...

Mike is the man to talk to you about the Maplin amps. You may also want to have a look at the Radford phase splitter.

I had a speed read through that Wiki page, interesting it was used to try to reduce distortion in Telephone repeater amps not 'hifi' or radiograms as such. Yep, that was the area were low noise, low distortion and high reliability mattered. If you look at the last generation of valves (the space ag...

Who can say, I know I can;t. But one thing is a bit odd. The site says: here are a number of advantages to the hand-built PrimaLuna over the cheaply mass produced AVC. Firstly, the PrimaLuna uses ONLY point to point hardwiring in the signal path, unlike the AVC which has a large, cheap PCB holding m...

If that is what the manual says it does, then it should be fine.
